Oak bound heart
Falling through the hemisphere
Catch it before it breaks
Love too shallow
To battle a breeze
Crush it before it swells
A game so hard to play
While the brain too dull
Crushed and broken
THE DRAGON
Red eyes gleam,
Furled and hidden in the depths,
It stares.
A growl;
Leather like skin blackened to sooth,
Shifting and then stilling.
A haze of smoke,
Chokes the air;
A lick of flame froths through.
Only the stainless steel skies,
Plunges this beast's organ Heart
Into fits of despair.
Modernity chases dreams of mythical eternity.
STARLIGHT
I hear them singing so sweetly,
As I rest my head on my pillow –
Their lullaby lulling me to sleep.
And all I want is to break these shackles
Escape this earthbound hemisphere
Past cloud and empty space.
Where starlight burns so fiercely
It will peal back this rotten skin
And open these blind eyes.
Only when dreaming am I granted this respite,
Where I dance among the stars,
And feel their light on my very finger-tips.
But I am bound in this solitary cage,
Where neither sun nor star can penetrate
Through these iron bars.
The brightest beams of purest light are dimmed.
Sunk and melted into black cloud;
And night&rsquo
Earthbound are the thoughts
Carved onto my brain.
No ray of celestial light
Can weave into the fabric
Of this living-dead grey mass.
I grasp at the stars
And come back - empty-handed.
All I need is that
One kick-start
That one shoot of the gun,
To fire the mind,
And blast the soul.
Then - on the third day
My dead muse shall
Rise -
Or so the prophecies say.
Frail, it shatters
Scatters on the floor -
Shards of glass
Pinned on skin.
A drop of red
Burning at the edges
So clear, so precise -
But the sun will evaporate.

Light upon her skin.
I want to be
In love with someone
And watch the light
Dance on the tips of her skin.
Like the sea,
I'll be the ebb,
And she'll be the flow
Moving together in perfect rhythm .
I want that feeling
Of confusing, alternating, maddening
Love to fill me from within
And to know how it feels,
To hear the words –

The slightest fire of consciousness
travels along a little imaginary fiber
course throughout my body,
desperate to extinguish.
But it never does.
It's afraid of dying.
Like most of us.
She’s not made of bones

or protein)
and her back doesn’t elope a spine
to lean on, her weight
heavier than earth-bones.
The gushes of oil spills flowing like rain
is the only rivulet in her tears,
the fuel in her blood.
Conjoined with the nuts and bolts found
in the pits of Father’s attic
jaundice skin's impenetrable,
even to the flickering of the candle’s flame
hair rough as ash and long as veins--
she was a battlefield.
But there’s a heart that beats
somewhere in her chest,
rattling like broken teeth;
trying,
trying to shake its enigma loose
trying to thump,
trying to pump,

She was the quiet sort,
tsunamis tucked
within her eyes,
anxieties pinned
to pottery skin;
she would mold herself
into moonlight butterflies
and glist'ning calla lilies,
pure and white and
beautiful.
and when night cast
itself upon her in
heated, hard'ning flames,
she’d smash herself
upon the rocks
and in morning start
again.
I am trying to be honest, by DearPoetry, literature
Literature
I am trying to be honest,
but I write so fucking flowery
it makes me sick,
rose scented stars & love.
No.
Her: helpless as a lamb,
I want raw, aching
bone against bone
exploring the exposed, naked
poetry of her universe-
( warm, celestial hands
forging sandcastle ribs. )
Southern earth beneath her feet,
wanderlust burned like Apollo's touch
into her spinal cord, please awaken
the empty space between her skin
& mine.
I am only the sum of parts:
these stumbling lips,
these wandering eyes,
this heart that skips too many beats.
I am not quite bold:
not content to watch,
not daring to speak,
making acquaintance with my feet.
I am scared:
awkward in silence,
clumsy in speech,
always just short of discreet.

winter crescent moon

he calls me wisteria

clouds under the moon—
his touch
yielding winter pears

selecting ripe persimmons—
warm scent of last night

from the gardener's manure—
we linger, moon watching

on a moonlit garden path
too cold out to be tempted

a night creature's song

You know
That if I could
I'd anchor you down
Until your under
Until you're lying next to me
Bu I can't do that
'Caus you won't be able
To breath
So I'll have to let you go
Float you up to shore
Where you maiden is waiting
Worried sick
I'll just plunge back down
So I don't have to see you go
But I'll be back
With a longer line to throw
But this can't go on
Not for long
I'll give anything up
To get the legs
To walk up to you
But no good will have come through
I'll have forgotten my voice.

I think you left a piece of you in me.
This tangled mess you call a heart,
daisy veins & sin;
She's bringing me down.
& you were merely shivering
kite-string clavicles.
Nothing,
pressing winter bones
against my sun-stricken mouth,
darkness searching for a home
buried in my lungs.
You whispered breathe me
lovely in the inhale/exhale
of carbon dioxide suicide.
She speaks only of you now,
lonely & mourning beats-
Crack open this damn ribcage;
set me
free.
